Little neighbor Nita
Little neighbor Nita, Wenatchee, Cashmere St. '38.
Written in pen on the front margin is Nita and 40.
If you know what became of Nita ( Anita? Juanita? ), a toddler girl who lived on Cashmere Street in Wenatchee, Washington in the late-1930s or early-1940s, I would love to hear from you at moonchildbooks@comcast.net. She would be around 75 years old in 2011.

Itchy Richard
Dear Barb
Itchy Richard made my head itch. I rilly liked it. It was relly funy. But I do not ander stand it. Why Richard has the nit in Richard head on the caver.
Dear Alli,
When I look closely at the picture, I see a white spot in Richard's hair, too. But he didn't have lice! Maybe it's a mistake from the illustrator. A nit is so small, it would be harder to see than the white dot on the cover.
It was a funny book, but I also learned a lot about lice! We know here at Island School that teasing people about having lice is not such a good idea. The lice could be on your head next.
Love, Barb
[Unfortunately, I'm not sure which Itchy Richard cover design Alli refers to, as there are several. I didn't see a white spot in Richard's hair on either of them, at least visible online.]

Jean-Robert Arnaud
This is a vintage 1940s original pencil sketch by artist J. L. Capdeville (Jean Capdeville?) of French gallery owner Jean-Robert Arnaud. This drawing was found at a flea market in the Seattle area along with photos of (and apparently by) artist John-Franklin Koenig, who was Arnaud's partner according to Internet research. Arnaud and Koenig started the art review Cimaise and opened the Galerie Arnaud.

Note to Bonnie from Irene in a 1944 Broadway High School yearbook. Broadway High School was located on Capitol Hill in Seattle, Washington. This is the second vintage yearbook inscription I've posted mentioning a career in waste management.
